Informazioni sul prodotto

The volume is unique in that it allows the non-specialist reader to enter the fascinating but complex world of Leonardo's manuscripts and, in particular, the Codex Leicester which, as part of Bill Gates’s private collection since 1994, is the only privately-owned Leonardo codex in the world. It contains studies, drawings and annotations on scientific topics such as water, geology and astronomy. It was developed by Leonardo in the years he spent in Florence, where, in addition to conducting research on flight and anatomy, he was dealing with the grandiose project to make the river Arno navigable from Florence to the sea and was working to masterpieces such as Mona Lisa. Domenico Laurenza is a historian of science with a scientific background. He is specialist in the history of the relationship between art and science as well as in anatomy and geology. He is an associate at the Museo Galileo of Florence and SchroederArts in New York and has been lecturer and researcher at several Italian and foreign universities. He is the author of several books on Leonardo and co-curator with Martin Kemp of the new edition of the Codex Leicester.
